France Relance - Visite d'une unité de sciage de bois guyanais

Le préfet Thierry QUEFFELEC se rendra sur une ancienne unité de sciage à Saint-Laurent du Maroni lundi 26 avril 2021 à 16h00, afin de visiter les lieux et échanger avec les porteurs du projet. Le projet consiste en la relance d’une activité de sciage de bois guyanais sur l’ancien site industriel SBT à Saint-Laurent du Maroni.

Le marché de construction de la région de Saint-Laurent du Maroni est en effet actuellement principalement alimenté par une scierie localisée à Kourou. Le redémarrage d’une unité de sciage dans l’Ouest, anciennement l’une des plus importantes de Guyane, permettra de raccourcir l’approvisionnement en bois d’œuvre, de redémarrer une exploitation dans l’Ouest de la Guyane et d’y favoriser l’emploi.

La phase 1 a consisté en l’installation d’une scie mobile pour faire revivre le site sur la base d’une transformation de 100 à 200 M3 par mois de grumes forestières issues de la forêt domaniale de Paul ISNARD.

La phase 2 consistera en la relance d’activité de l’ancienne scierie nécessitant au préalable un investissement de 1 M€ en la révision de la scierie (cabine de pilotage, remise aux normes), et la reconstruction de 5 000 m2 de hangars.

La société de sciage bénéficie du plan France Relance pour développer ce projet d’un montant total de 574600€, financé à hauteur de 287000€ par l’État.

Prefect Thierry QUEFFELEC will visit an old sawing unit in Saint-Laurent du Maroni on Monday April 26, 2021 at 4:00 p.m., in order to visit the premises and discuss with the project leaders. The project consists of relaunching a Guyanese timber sawing activity on the former SBT industrial site in Saint-Laurent du Maroni.

The construction market in the Saint-Laurent du Maroni region is currently mainly supplied by a sawmill located in Kourou. The restart of a sawmill in the west, formerly one of the largest in French Guiana, will make it possible to shorten the supply of timber, restart an operation in the west of French Guiana and 'promote employment there.

Phase 1 consisted of the installation of a mobile saw to revive the site on the basis of a transformation of 100 to 200 M3 per month of forest logs from the national forest of Paul ISNARD.

Phase 2 will consist of relaunching the activity of the old sawmill requiring a prior investment of € 1 million in the overhaul of the sawmill (cockpit, upgrading), and the reconstruction of 5,000 m2 of hangars.

The sawmill company is benefiting from the France Relance plan to develop this project for a total amount of € 574,600, financed to the tune of € 287,000 by the State.
