Lutte contre la rage et identification

L’association Actions Animaux Guyane et la DAAF, renouvellent leur campagne de sensibilisation à l’attention de la population guyanaise, pour lui rappeler l’obligation de l’identification et de la vaccination contre la rage pour les animaux de compagnie.

Le support choisi reste l’affichage en panneaux 4 x 3, visibles sur tout le littoral.

Chaque année dans le monde, environ 17 millions de personnes reçoivent un traitement après exposition à des animaux chez lesquels on soupçonne la rage (source : Institut Pasteur). La Guyane, reste un territoire non indemne de rage.

Il faut agir rapidement si l’on a été en contact avec un animal potentiellement infecté. Il faut prévenir l’apparition des premiers symptômes car la mort est inévitable et survient généralement dans les 14 jours suivants.

La vaccination constitue un moyen très efficace de protéger nos animaux à partir de trois mois minimums, sur un chat ou un chien identifié, avec des rappels réguliers. A retenir : la validité de la première vaccination est effective après 21 jours et ce délai devra donc être considéré pour nos amis à quatre pattes qui voyagent !
