Le point sur le second tour des élections municipales

Paris, le 15 juin 2020 – Saisi de manière expresse sur l'organisation des élections municipales en Guyane et à Mayotte, où le virus circule de manière active, le conseil scientifique COVID-19 du Gouvernement, dans ses avis du 8 et du 14 juin, a recommandé une attention particulière pour les risques associés à la campagne électorale et le second tour du scrutin dans ces deux territoires.

Au vu des dynamiques épidémiques d'une intensité différente en Guyane et à Mayotte et après consultation des élus des territoires et des responsables de l'Etat dans les deux départements, le Gouvernement a décidé :

- de reporter les élections municipales en Guyane pour toutes les sept communes où un second tour était prévu le 28 juin. La décision sera prise dans le cadre défini par la loi permettant le report des élections municipales en raison de considérations sanitaires.

- de maintenir, à ce stade, les élections municipales à Mayotte, dans des conditions de sécurité sanitaire maximales, notamment pendant la campagne, en y limitant les regroupements de plus de 10 personnes et en y rendant systématique le port du masque "grand public" pour toutes les personnes participant à des réunions de campagne.

Paris, June 15, 2020 - Expressly asked about the organization of municipal elections in French Guiana and Mayotte, where the virus is actively circulating, the government's scientific council COVID-19, in its opinions of 8 and 14 June, recommended special attention to the risks associated with the electoral campaign and the second ballot in these two territories.

In view of the epidemic dynamics of a different intensity in French Guiana and Mayotte and after consulting the elected representatives of the territories and State officials in the two departments, the Government has decided:

- to postpone the municipal elections in French Guiana for all the seven municipalities where a second round was planned for June 28. The decision will be taken within the framework defined by law allowing the postponement of municipal elections due to health considerations.

- to maintain, at this stage, the municipal elections in Mayotte, in conditions of maximum health security, in particular during the campaign, by limiting the regroupings of more than 10 people there and by making systematic the wearing of the mask "general public" for everyone participating in campaign meetings.
