Le CEBA, une décennie de science innovante en Guyane

Mardi 15 octobre 2019 s’est achevée la 8^ème édition des Journées Annuelles du LabEx CEBA. Tous les ans, ce rendez-vous permet de réunir pendant deux jours la communauté CEBA dispersée habituellement sur plusieurs continents.

Depuis la première année, les Journées Annuelles sont l’occasion pour le LabEx de rendre compte de sa recherche. Cette année n’a pas fait exception puisque les porteurs de projets stratégiques ont expliqué leur recherche, les méthodes développées et leurs résultats. Pendant deux jours, les chercheurs se sont succédé au pupitre. Cette année était marquée par la fin de la première édition du CEBA qui a été reconduit jusqu’en 2024. Il était donc important pour ces rencontres de clore la première phase du projet.

Le LabEx CEBA a également laissé une longue place aux acteurs de l’environnement et développement Guyanais en consacrant presque toute une matinée aux associations et institutions publiques. Pendant cette session qui leur été dédiée, ces intervenants ont eu l’occasion de se présenter et d’exposer quelques idées qu’ils souhaitent développer en relation avec les chercheurs du CEBA. Nous savons déjà que des synergies se sont mises en place et nul doute que les prochains appels à projets annuels en 2020 reflèteront ces nouvelles relations.

Le programme a également réservé quelques surprises aux invités notamment la « Woman Power Hour » qui s’est prolongée pendant une heure au lieu de la demie heure prévue initialement. Tous ceux qui le souhaitaient ont pu s’exprimer sur cette question cruciale du statut des femmes aujourd’hui en science. Même la voix de la future génération scientifique s’est faite entendre via la parole des étudiantes et étudiants présents dans l’assemblée.

En résonance à cette cession, le public a eu la chance d’assister aux conférences de deux chercheuses internationales venues d’Estonie et des Etats-Unis. Toutes les deux se sont rendues spécialement en Guyane pour les Journées Annuelles afin d’intervenir auprès de la communauté du CEBA.

Enfin, ces deux jours ont été l’occasion pour les chercheurs ayant déposé une demande aux appels à projets stratégiques 2020 de présenter leur dossier à la communauté. Bien que rien ne soit pour l’instant arrêté sur le choix des projets sélectionnés, les chercheurs ont présenté des projets enthousiasmant et porteurs d’une science innovante !

Le LabEx CEBA souhaite tout particulièrement remercier l’Université de Guyane et M. Antoine Primerose, président de l’université, pour son accueil au sein de ses locaux.

Tuesday, October 15, 2019 ended the 8th edition of the LabEx CEBA Annual Days. Each year, this meeting brings together for two days the CEBA community usually dispersed over several continents.

Since the first year, the Annual Days have been an opportunity for the LabEx to report on its research. This year was no exception since the leaders of strategic projects explained their research, the methods developed and their results. For two days, the researchers followed one another at the desk. This year was marked by the end of the first edition of CEBA which was renewed until 2024. It was therefore important for these meetings to close the first phase of the project.

The CEBA LabEx has also left a lot of space for Guianese environment and development players by devoting almost an entire morning to associations and public institutions. During this dedicated session, these speakers had the opportunity to introduce themselves and present some ideas that they wish to develop in relation to CEBA researchers. We already know that synergies have been created and there is no doubt that the next annual calls for projects in 2020 will reflect these new relationships.

The program also reserved a few surprises for the guests, notably the "Woman Power Hour" which lasted for an hour instead of the half hour originally planned. All those who wished to have the opportunity to speak on this crucial question of the status of women today in science. Even the voice of the future scientific generation was heard through the voices of the students present in the assembly.

In resonance to this transfer, the public had the chance to attend the conferences of two international researchers from Estonia and the United States. The two went specially to French Guiana for the Annual Days in order to intervene with the CEBA community.

Finally, these two days were an opportunity for researchers who submitted a request for 2020 strategic calls for projects to present their case to the community. Although nothing has yet been decided on the choice of projects selected, the researchers presented exciting projects with innovative science!
